A delivery box has one job the dine-in box does not: it must survive being packed at an angle, stacked under another bag and carried up a flight of stairs. The 220×203mm and 228×228mm bodies at 37g and 42g are moulded for that.
The tilt test in a courier bag
Put a filled box in a thermal bag and the bag hangs from a shoulder. Everything inside leans. What keeps sauce off the lid is the relationship between wall height and base area: 76mm on a 220mm square base leaves enough freeboard that a twenty per cent tilt does not reach the seal line. Narrower bodies at the same depth have no such margin.
Why 37g and 42g behave differently
Wall weight shows up as torsional stiffness. A 37g body resists twisting when one corner is supported and the opposite is not; a lighter body flexes and the lid lifts on the unsupported side. On a scooter run that difference is the whole argument for the heavier mouldings. Both are pressed in one piece with no seam, so the hinge is the only joint to think about.
Contact between lid and base
The lid closes onto a stepped rim rather than a flat face, so the two halves register before the latch engages. Staff should press the front corners down, not the centre. Where a dish is sauce-heavy, a paper band around the box holds the halves together through a rough ride and takes a fraction of the time a remake would.
Carton maths on a delivery line
The 1200ml body packs 100 per sleeve in twos at 46×36.5×22.5cm, 200 per carton. The 1500ml body packs 100 per sleeve in twos at 48×36×25.5cm, also 200 per carton. For a kitchen sending 150 orders a night, one carton of each covers two nights and keeps the shelf to two case widths. See packaging for restaurants for similar volume planning.
Questions buyers ask
Will the hinge survive a dropped bag? It is moulded with the body; tell us the drop height you need to pass and we will advise.
Do you supply a band or sleeve? Not as standard, but tell us the requirement and we will confirm what is possible.
Can we print an order number on the lid? Yes, and we can reserve a plain panel for handwriting.
Read what the labels mean before making a claim to customers, or ask us about your delivery mix.
