Product Details

A soup bowl has one job the rest of the range does not: it must hold a hot, heavy, mostly-liquid load and get it to the customer without the base going soft or the rim flexing. This page is about choosing between the deep bowls and about where soup actually escapes.

Depth before diameter

Soup wants depth, not width. Three bowls share a 208mm diameter and differ only in depth: 24oz at 45.2mm, 32oz at 61mm, 40oz at 70mm. For broth-based dishes the 40oz is the soup bowl; the 32oz behaves better as a noodle bowl where the food needs to be reachable; the 24oz suits thick soups and stews served in smaller portions. The metric 750ml and 1000ml bowls offer the same depth logic in a narrower 168mm body.

Wall weight as a proxy for rigidity

Weight per bowl rises with size — 21g at 24oz, 25g at 32oz, 28g at 40oz, 19g at 1000ml. Heavier walls keep the base flat under a full liquid load. If you are comparing quotes from two suppliers at the same nominal volume, the gram weight is the fastest way to see whether they are selling you the same thing.

Where the leak starts

The bowl is pressed in one piece, so the body has no seam. The lid interface is the failure point. Two decisions prevent it: specify the lid together with the bowl so the 208mm rim is matched, and leave headspace for expansion. For delivery, a bowl filled to the rim will push liquid into the lid seat on the first speed bump.

Carton and container loading

24oz packs 600 per carton, 32oz 500, 40oz 400. Per-piece freight climbs with size, so most operators run one default and one large rather than standardising on the biggest bowl.

Questions buyers ask

Can it hold near-boiling soup? Tell us the serving temperature and hold time; grade selection depends on both.

Is it microwave-safe? Do not assume it — state your reheat requirement and we will quote a grade rated for it.

Do you supply matching lids? Yes. Confirm the pair when you inquire rather than sourcing separately.

See paper soup bowls if you need a lower-cost option for shorter hold times, or send your soup spec.
