At 160mm across and 38mm deep, the 12oz bagasse bowl (360ml) sits in the middle of the range — big enough for a real portion, shallow enough to keep the food visible. It is the SKU most buyers land on when they are replacing a plastic or foam bowl of the same nominal volume.
The shallow-bowl case
38mm of depth is deliberate. A shallow bowl presents food — a salad, a dessert, a rice bowl, a side of noodles — where the customer can see it, and it lets staff portion quickly without digging. The trade-off is that very liquid dishes slosh. For broth-heavy dishes step up to the 32oz or 40oz bowl, which share a wider 208mm body with more depth.
Cold service and hot service
Pressed sugarcane fibre has no plastic lining, so there is no film to blister when a hot portion goes in and no condensation layer to peel when a cold one does. That is why the same 12oz bowl turns up in dessert counters and in hot-food lines. If your menu alternates between the two through the day, one SKU keeps stock simple.
Carton and freight
The 12oz packs 125 per sleeve, 8 sleeves per carton — 1,000 pieces per carton at 50×33.8×35cm. Compared with the 16oz (also 1,000 per carton, but in a 60×37.2×38cm box), the 12oz ships roughly 15% more pieces per cubic metre. On a 40HQ that difference is worth calculating before you fix your SKU mix.
Who buys this size
Restaurant takeaway lines running rice or noodle sides, dessert shops, and caterers plating cold courses. Distributors often pair it with the 8oz for tasting and the 24oz for mains, which keeps three cartons covering most of a menu.
Questions buyers ask
Is 360ml the brim capacity or the working capacity? It is the nominal fill; leave headspace for sauce and garnish as you would with any bowl.
Will it hold a hot curry? The body is seamless and pressed in one piece. For high-fat, high-temperature dishes, tell us the dish when you inquire so we quote the right grade.
Can I mix sizes in one carton? Cartons are single-SKU. Mixed pallets across SKUs are possible — ask for a pallet plan.
