Our 8oz bagasse bowl is the smallest moulded bowl in the sugarcane range — 112mm across, 46mm deep, 6.5g of pressed fibre. It exists for one job: putting a small, wet portion into a format that will not collapse before the customer picks it up.
What an 8oz bowl is actually used for
This is a portion bowl, not a serving bowl. In practice it covers four jobs:
- Soup or sauce tasting portions at sampling counters and trade shows
- Side soups and dips that travel alongside a main
- Dessert and ice cream portions served cold
- Condiment and topping stations where plastic ramekins are being phased out
If the dish is the main event on the tray, go up to the 12oz or 16oz bowl; at 8oz the rim-to-base ratio leaves very little surface for garnish.
Why 6.5g matters at this size
Small bowls are where cheap fibre shows. A 6.5g wall on a 112mm diameter gives a stiffer rim than a lighter bowl of the same volume, which is what stops the bowl from flexing when a customer lifts it one-handed from a tray. It also lets the bowl hold a hot portion without the base softening within the first few minutes.
Packing maths for sampling programmes
The 8oz packs 50 per sleeve, 20 sleeves per carton — 1,000 pieces per carton, carton size 55×23.5×24.5cm. For a two-day event running 600 samples a day, one carton covers the whole show with spare. For retail sampling that ships to multiple stores, this carton is also the smallest unit that still divides cleanly into 50s.
Where it fits in an operation
Tasting counters, cafés running soup-and-sandwich menus, and event caterers plating small courses. Because the bowl is cold-safe as well as hot-safe, the same SKU can serve dessert service in the evening.
Questions buyers ask
Is 8oz enough for soup? As a side or tasting portion, yes. As a standalone lunch portion, no — most buyers move to 12oz or 16oz.
Do you make a lid for it? Lid fit depends on the 112mm diameter. Tell us the application when you inquire and we will confirm which lid matches.
Can it be printed? Yes, single or multi-colour logo printing is available. Send artwork and target volume with your inquiry.
Need the full size ladder before deciding? The packaging size guide compares every bowl in the range, or send us your portion size and we will match the SKU.
