Salad is a cold, wet, heavy dish served in a bowl that customers look at while they eat it. That combination rules out thin board and rules out anything with a plastic film that fogs. The two SKUs built for it are the 850ml oval salad bowl and the 2-compartment version — both 233×132mm, differing only in depth.
Why the oval shape
A 233×132mm oval fits a composed salad better than a round bowl of the same volume: the leaf sits along the long axis instead of piling in the middle, and the dressing has room to pool at one end rather than soaking everything. It also takes less width on a display shelf than a round bowl of equivalent capacity.
Single compartment or two
The 850ml bowl is 45mm deep; the 2-compartment bowl is 60mm deep and divides the base so croutons, nuts or protein stay dry until the customer mixes. If your menu sells salad plus a side, the compartment version often removes a second container from the order.
Dressing and hold time
Pressed fibre is not waterproof, and no fibre bowl should be asked to sit in dressing for hours. The practical rule: dress at service, or pack dressing separately. For catering where salads are plated hours ahead, keep the dressing out of the bowl.
Carton maths
Both salad bowls pack 50 per sleeve, 8 sleeves per carton — 400 pieces per carton. The 850ml carton is 46×25.5×29.5cm, the 2-compartment 50.5×34×29.5cm, so the compartment version costs noticeably more freight per piece. Use it only where the menu needs it.
Where it sells
Salad-led lunch concepts, cafés with a cold counter, supermarket grab-and-go, and event catering. For hot dishes in the same footprint, the soup bowls use the same material and disposal stream.
Questions buyers ask
Will it leak if the salad is wet? Short service, no. Long hold with dressing, yes — pack dressing separately.
Is there a lid? Tell us the application; lid fit depends on the 233×132mm rim.
Can the compartments be sized differently? Custom tooling is possible; send the split you need.
