Product Details

A bowl with a lid is a different product from a bowl. Once the lid goes on, the packaging has to survive stacking, a delivery bag, and the customer opening it one-handed. This page covers what to check before you pair a lid with a fibre bowl.

Diameter decides the lid, not volume

Lid fit follows the rim. In this range the 208mm diameter is shared by the 24oz, 32oz and 40oz bowls, so a single lid can be specified across all three — while the 160mm 12oz and 178mm 16oz each need their own. Confirm the pairing with us rather than matching by nominal ounce.

The two real failure points

  • The rim seat. If the lid does not sit flat on the pressed rim, any tilt lets liquid into the seam.
  • Fill level. A bowl filled to the brim has nowhere for the contents to go when the bag tilts. Leave headspace, especially for soup and sauce.

Everything else — wall strength, base flatness — is already handled by the bowl itself, which is why the lid is usually the only variable worth testing.

Testing before a menu launch

Fill a bowl with your hottest, thinnest dish, lid it, and carry it in the same bag your customer uses for the same time your delivery takes. That single test catches almost every failure we see. Ask us for a sample pair of bowl and lid to run it.

Where lidded bowls are specified

Delivery-first restaurants, caterers sending portions to a venue, and grab-and-go counters where the customer carries the bowl rather than eating in.

Questions buyers ask

Are the lids fibre or plastic? Confirm the specification with us for the size you need — the answer differs by SKU.

Can lidded bowls be stacked in a delivery bag? Yes if fill level leaves headspace; stack two high at most for liquid dishes.

Is a vent needed for hot food? For fried or crisp items a vent prevents sogginess — tell us the dish.

See the soup bowls for the deep variants, or ask for a lid sample.
