Catering is a counting problem before it is a packaging problem. You know how many guests you have and roughly what they will eat; what you need from a supplier is a bowl that arrives on time, stacks in a van, and can be counted out per station without repacking. This page is about that side of the specification.
Plan by covers, not by cartons
Work backwards from the event. A 300-guest lunch with one bowl per guest, plus 10% breakage and seconds, needs roughly 350 bowls. Because the range packs in clean carton multiples — 1,000 for 8oz, 12oz and 16oz; 600 for 24oz and 350/500ml; 500 for 32oz; 400 for 40oz — you can usually cover a multi-day event from one or two cartons per size.
Stack height and van space
Empty bowls nest, so the constraint is carton cube rather than bowl height. A 16oz carton is 60×37.2×38cm; twelve of those is about a third of a standard van shelf. If your team loads by station — hot, cold, dessert — split cartons per station at the warehouse rather than on site.
Mixing materials across a menu
Bagasse bowls take hot and cold, so most caterers run them across the whole menu instead of splitting between fibre and paper. Where a menu needs a plate for the main and a bowl for dessert, the bagasse plates use the same material and the same disposal stream.
What to send us
Guest count, number of serving stations, whether food is plated on site or pre-portioned, and the disposal setup at the venue. From that we can propose a size mix rather than a single SKU. See packaging for catering and events for the operating profile.
Questions buyers ask
Can you hold stock for a date? Tell us the event date and volume and we will confirm what can be scheduled.
Are the bowls presentable enough for a plated course? The interior is smooth and the rim is clean-pressed; most caterers use them unadorned for buffet and casual courses.
Can we get samples before committing? Yes — ask for a sample set of the sizes you are considering.
Send the event brief and we will come back with a size mix and carton count.
