Two plates sit in the small format: 155mm at 6.7g and 176mm at 8.5g. Twenty-one millimetres apart, they cover most of what a side, a dessert or a tasting portion needs, and they pack eight sleeves to a carton.
Two small rounds, 21mm apart
The 155mm plate takes a pastry, a slice of cake, a small salad or a child’s portion. The 176mm plate takes a sandwich with a side, a starter, or a dessert with sauce. The difference is not cosmetic: at 155mm a fork used from the edge reaches the centre, while at 176mm the food sits inside the rim and the plate reads as a course.
The eight-sleeve carton
Both small plates pack 125 per sleeve, eight sleeves per carton, 1,000 pieces. Cases measure 33×28×33.3cm and 36.8×31×37.5cm. A thousand pieces per carton is the highest count in the plate range, which suits high-volume, low-value service: cafés, bakeries, ice cream counters and anywhere a plate is used once per customer and cleared quickly. Order one carton and you have covered a month of dessert service at a small café.
Portion control by diameter
A smaller plate makes a fixed portion look generous; a larger one makes the same portion look sparse. Operators moving desserts from a 9-inch to a 7-inch plate usually find they can trim the scoop without a complaint, because the plate looks full. That is a cheaper lever than reformulating a recipe, and it works on the plate rather than in the kitchen.
Where small formats belong
Dessert counters, coffee shop food cases, tasting menus and children’s service. The 155mm plate also works as a base for a small bagasse bowl in a two-piece serve. See packaging for catering and events for how small plates are counted per guest. A 155mm plate is also the right size for a tasting flight, where four small plates go out on one tray. Operators running afternoon tea often pair it with the 176mm for the cake course.
