A square plate uses the space a round one wastes. At 160mm, 200mm and 260mm with 16mm to 20mm rims, the three square mouldings at 12g, 18g and 28g suit trays, boards and buffet surfaces where straight edges matter.
More plate for the same width
A 200mm square encloses more area than a 200mm round, and its corners hold food that would otherwise slide off a circular edge. On a buffet where plates are laid side by side, straight edges tile without gaps, so a metre of counter holds more servings. The gain is geometry, not generosity: the same portion simply sits with more room around it.
Three sizes, three jobs
The 160mm plate at 12g takes a slice, a pastry or a side. The 200mm at 18g takes a lunch portion or a sandwich with garnish. The 260mm at 28g takes a full dinner or a sharing board. Each step adds material in the corners as well as across the span, which is why the 260mm is the heaviest plate in the range.
Carton 54×30×29cm for the 260mm
The largest square packs 125 per sleeve in fours, 500 per carton, at 54×30×29cm — long and narrow rather than cube-shaped. The 200mm case is 43.5×33.5×23.5cm and the 160mm case is 35.5×31×19.5cm. Because the shapes differ, a mixed pallet needs a layer pattern rather than a simple stack; ask us for one. Because the case is 54cm long, check that it fits the shelf before you standardise on the 260mm. The 200mm case is the one that suits a standard dry store.
Plating into corners
A square plate changes how a dish is composed. A protein placed centrally leaves four corners for garnish, sauce dots or a side, and a straight edge gives a cleaner line for a sauce sweep than a curve does. Kitchens plating to a photograph find squares easier to reproduce, because the frame is a fixed rectangle rather than a variable circle. See applications.
Questions buyers ask
Are square plates compostable like the rounds? Yes, they are the same moulded fibre material.
Do squares fit standard trays? A 200mm square sits inside a standard tray with room for a side; tell us your tray size.
Is rim printing possible on squares? Yes, and the straight edges suit a border design.
